Mission:

–          The group is currently on a mission to save the City of Elturel from being pulled into Avernus. Baldur’s Gate, one of the largest port cities in the Forgotten Realms, is next.

General Recap for Avernus:

–          Let’s start a LOONNNG time ago…with, Zariel, who was once a celestial warrior for the Heavens, but was captured during one of her Godly missions in Avernus by Asmodeus. Overlord of the NINE Hells

o   Zariel asked her trusty friend and war-mount, Lulu, to hide her powerful angelic sword

o   Lulu was successful, but the powerful magic used to hide it caused her to lose her memories

o   Asmodeus tortured Zariel and turned her into an ally…as a Fallen Angel, fueled by her hatred for Demons

o   Now, Zariel does Asmodeus’s bidding as Ruler of the first level of his realm, Avernus. She leads Asmodeus’s devilish armies against Demons who are trying to forcefully take Avernus.

–          The city of Elturel has been pulled into the realm of Avernus, the First Layer of Hell

o   This was due to a pact between the King of Elturel, Thavius Kregg and Archdevil of Avernus, Zariel

o   The agreement was made 50 years ago, to have Zariel save the city from a group of murderous vampires

o   But, in exchange, Thavius agreed to give all the souls of the city to Zariel, to be added to her ever-growing army she led against the Demons.

–          The players are part of the 77th Squadron of the Hellriders, the military force in Elturel.

o   Some of them were in the city when it fell, while others were able to teleport to the falling city through magic portals

o   After finding Lulu and Grandduke Ulder Ravengard, it was decided that the crew must seek out Zariel’s sword, the only thing powerful enough to help save the city.

o   To do that though, they must first find a shaman named Mad Maggie, unlock Lulu’s memories

–          Before much progress could be made in finding the sword, Veronika’s Warlock pact with the Demogorgon caused multiple…disturbances with the group.

o   After some time, Veronika was able to break from her pact and the team killed the Prince of Demons, with a little surprise help from Zariel herself.

–          Mad Maggie was able to perform a ritual for Lulu to find an old friend named Olanthius, one of Zariels most loyal Paladins when she was an angel.

o   Lulu believes that Olanthius helped her hide the sword and that he knows the location

o   After trekking through the brutal and intimidating landscape of Avernus, Olanthius has found them and immediately recognizes his old friend, Lulu.
