Among the slew of nerdy news that dropped over the past week, another trailer has raced onto the scene! Twisted Metal, the fabled Playstation car-battle-arena game from the 90s, is coming to Paramount+.
For those unfamiliar with the game series, players control deadly demolition derby vehicles and destroy each other in a brutal tournament. It is like Mario Kart and Mortal Kombat mixed into one insane game. The IP created quite the cast of characters, the most famous of which is a serial killer clown known as Sweet Tooth who drives an ice cream truck. In the trailer, he appears briefly at the very end. He is being played by a combination of AEW’s Samoa Joe’s body and Will Arnett’s voice. Quite the combination?
Anthony Mackie (y’all know this man, it’s the new Captain America!), will be playing John Doe, the “motor-mouthed outsider” lead role in the show. John is tasked with a mission to deliver a mystery package, which seems easy enough; however, when you’re driving through a post-apocalyptic wasteland with killer cars chasing you at every turn, it makes things a litte more difficult.
This will be a very interesting show to keep your eyes on as more details emerge! Paramount’s track record with video game to TV adaptations did not start off well with Halo receiving incredibly mixed reviews. Hoping Sweet Tooth and Captain America can keep this wild ride moving!
We will be keeping you in the loop here at FNM. Until then, enjoy Friggin’ Nerd Mario’s reaction to the teaser!
